When the COVID-19 virus was spread majorly all over the world. We connected with video calls, or voice calls with our friends and families. It felt like we were having virtual dates with them. Everyone was just one pick away when their phone buzzed. Even lots of companies digitalised their platforms for marketing. The way of communication was Zoom, Google meet, and Skype. WhatsApp was not used much in the corporate world as they had a fallback in their call features. Well, now WhatsApp has updated itself and launched a new feature called “Joinable Calls”. If you want to know more about the new feature then continue reading!
What do you mean by Joinable Calls?
Earlier, when the users did not receive a call, it used to go straight to a missed call. Now they have launched a new feature, that allows you to attend the call even after you have missed the ongoing call. The new feature “joining calls” also has the advantage of monitoring the video call as to who is present and who isn’t with the new information screen and also those who did not join the call.
How does it work?
This new updated feature has made the lives of the users easy as they can now connect the call or rejoin the call whenever they want, as long as the call is active. Doesn’t this remind you of other similar applications like Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams as they also have the same functioning terms for making a video call?
An invitee can join a group call that is already in progress by going into WhatsApp's call section and selecting "Join a Group Call". The users are relieved that they do not have to pick up the phone right away, as many of them used to panic if they missed a call.
In addition, the company has developed a screen that shows who is already on a call and who has been invited but has not yet joined. The user can also choose to ignore a call if he or she is unable to answer it at the time and join it afterward from the WhatsApp calls toggle.
Ways through which you can join an Incoming video call
If you want to join an incoming video call, then these are the steps you need to follow:
- After the call has begun, all the invitees will obtain a notification to join the group video call.
- If the user is not able to join the video call, then the user can tap on the ‘ignore’ toggle and may join later if the call is still going on.
- The users also get to see the invitees and call participants from the menu.
- When you want to join you can tap on ‘Join’ to attend the call.
Ways through which you can join a missed video call
If you want to rejoin an incoming video call, then these are the steps you need to follow:
- First open your WhatsApp, then select the ‘Calls’ tab.
- If the call is still active then the user can instantly be added to the call by selecting the tab of letting them join in.
- On the call screen, the user can see a call menu, and then they can tap on ‘Join’ if they want to.
When it comes to the business world, it will make all of our work easier as now we will not have to create any meeting ID for google meet or zoom. We can now schedule a group meeting immediately from just our phones and everyone can join and if the invitee is currently not available, he/she can join later if the meeting is still active. Even if you are out and need to attend an important meeting, then you can connect through WhatsApp with just your smartphone.
Henceforth, all the digital platform users who have the latest version of WhatsApp can activate this new feature of joining the video call even after you missed it.
