Only interface size could differ.

For example, In Android Playstore, Instagram is available in the latest version and brings in new updates when required. Whereas, in Windows store, the same app Instagram, is available in a Beta version that has no options for an update.Availability– Websites that are formatted according to mobile coding are available universally on all phones and operating systems. 5.Cost effective – There are two things that need to be taken into consideration:
  1. For the company– The question whether apps are cheaper than websites in terms of its development can never be answered because when you want to bring out an app into the market, you have to spend on its development as per your requirements. If your business requires both, website and app, your cost increases.
  2. For the consumers– There are some apps that are for free and there are some that are paid. Consumers tend to go for free apps rather than the paid ones. So the reachablility of the paid apps decreases.

  2. For the consumers– Since websites are free of cost for consumers to view, it becomes more reachable than apps because it can be downloaded easily. Another advantage is that if you type words in Google or any other search engines, it gives links to websites that show the same or related keywords. This way footfall on websites increases.
6.Accessibility – Apps tend to be more user-friendly since there are defined options for the user to access. Some apps also work on laptops/desktops for example- Instagram, whatsapp etc. this makes the app very convenient and user friendly.Accessibility – The interface of a website may sometimes look complicated and especially for people of an older generation or people who are technically ignorant may find it difficult to access a website, since a website may look different on mobiles and laptops/desktops as per its coding.

Thus, both these options have their pros and cons and the question, ‘which is better’ is hard to answer because your requirements differ. In some cases, apps and mobile websites both are required, for example, companies like – Amazon, Book My Show, Popxo, etc. These companies want to reach to as many people as possible, so they have kept both the options available.
